" Very attractive with great music. The late Jim Mcleod was very supportive of the Royal Dublin Fusilier's Association and attended some of our annual dinners. May he rest in peace "

" The best site of its kind i have seen. Reading the history of the Irish Regiments through the ages with the music playing sent a shiver down my spine. What did it do to the enemy with the pipes playing and 500 ' mad ' screaming Irishmen, bayonets fixed and coming your direction?? Brilliant site.

" Great to see this website devoted to a regiment one never hears a lot about, but one that had a nobel history. As a soldier from a rival Ulster regiment i have shared the rivalry together with the ' Skins '. Irish dancin, boxing tournaments and bayonet fencing were times when we all got together. Great memories of some even greater lads!!
Well done and keep up the good work.

" I wonder if you can help me with the following questions? My great grandfather served in the 1st Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers during WW1 and was killed in action on the 25th November 1916. What battle do you think he was involved in at the time? His medal record sheet states First Theatre of War-2B Balkans 07.08.1915. Would he have been at Chocolate Hill? Finally - He was born in England and so were his parents but the next generation i have not tracked their origin. I believe they could be Irish. Would he have to be Irish to serve in the regiment. I think this is the best website i have found regarding the Royal Dublin Fusiliers and congratulate you on your efforts. Thank you.

John,
" The site is wonderful and a credit to you-it is also befitting the memories of those who have passed on.
Just found it when trying to research a great uncle whom i believe served in the 2nd Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers and died 10/08/15.

" Surfing the net for info on the RUR as my late father served with them in WW2. We are from Belfast. The music is great and the graphics beautiful. My uncle believes my father was injured at Monte Cassino so i was surfing the net to find info on that battle. Keep up the good work. I will be visiting your site again.
We certainly do have plenty to be proud of!

Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong and the 7th Calvary....
The 7th Calvary, despite its portrayal by Hollywood as a peculiarly all American regiment , ( give or take an ' Oirish ' drill sergeant ) was in fact, one seventh Irish and only slightly less German. The Irish influence can be seen in the regiment's 1876 muster roll which included over 126 Irish names out of 822 members of the regiment. There were names like Sergeant George McDermott from County Clare, Denis Kerr from Antrim and John Gilbert from
Cork. Just another fascinating part of IrishAmerican military history that i will be covering at a later date.
